Predisposed To Age Spots?

spots on your skin often marks the onset of middle age and are called liver spots, age spots, senile lentigines or solar lentigines. They are all the same thing. Some people are predisposed to getting age spots genetically and others are exposed to skin damage from the sun.

Age spots can appear on any skin that has been exposed to the sun, such as the back of the hands, face, feet and back. Getting rid of them requires patience and time. There are home treatments as well as medical procedures performed by dermatologists. If you do not have age spots, how can you prevent them?

Two factors influence the development of age spots - age and the sun. Ageing can't be stopped so the only way to prevent age spots is by staying out of the sun. Prevention and skin protection starts in your 20's, preferably younger, as the earlier you start the longer you will look younger as you grow older.

Staying out of the sun isn't as so easy. Driving exposes the backs of your hands to the sun and potential sun damage. Preventative measures you can take when exposed to any sun include applying sunscreens. Use sunscreens with SPF 15 or higher levels. Wearing a hat while in the open offers good protection as well.

Protect your skin from sun damage by wearing protective clothing. If possible wear turtle neck shirts, long pants and long sleeves - if not possible use neutral smelling sunscreens.

People who have been exposed to excessive sun, like sun tanning, over 10 or more years will in all probability have sun damage. These age spots are scar tissue growth which is hyperpigmentation (over pigmentation) of the skin that build up and absorb sunlight and causes brown liver spots or age spots.

Common home creams are Alpha Hydroxy Acid (or AHAs) and are regarded as an age spot cream by many dermatologists. AHAs are acids from certain dairy products and fruits and topical application to the skin treats wrinkles, acne and scars. Bleaching creams are available from dermatologists and creams with AHAs are obtainable over the counter. Age spots develop slowly and likewise treatment is a slow process. Be patient, wear protection and stay out of the sun.

Vitamin A - commonly called Rentin-A, Retinoids or retinol helps regulate the growth rate of the skin. Higher doses of Vitamin A than that found in skin creams makes the body's natural exfoliating process to accelerate, causing the skin to dry and slough off leaving new cells free of scars and liver spots.

Doctor's can offer microdermabrasion or chemical peels to help remove scars and get rid of age spots.

Secret 4

A good diet consists of natural plant foods.

A good diet consists of natural -whole plant- foods, like fresh fruits, vegetables (especially greens), nuts, seeds, grains and beans. Ive tried everything myself and have come to the conclusion that a big part of it should be consumed raw. Fresh plant food contains lots of energy that is ready for use. Traditional diets consisted mainly of raw plant food and weeds. How much food you want to cook or bake depends on your own constitution, the place where you live, the season, and your condition. Raw foods are best to cleanse the body. Cooked foods to warm the body.

There is a lot of confusion about animal protein. No one physically needs animal protein. This has been proven throughout history. In poor countries, many spiritual traditions and traditional diets, people lived on plant food and were very healthy. Scientific research finds more and more evidence that animal protein is the cause of many modern diseases. For instance, colon cancer is rarely found among vegans, occurs a little more often among vegetarians and is rampant among people who eat a lot a red meat. (Effect of different diets on faecal markers related to colorectal cancer risk. Studies with vegetarians and urolithiasis patients, dr. A. van Faassen, 1996). The amount of animal protein western people consume has risen enormously over the past hundred years with many negative effects on our health.

The same is true for milk products. In traditional cultures people used a little fresh milk, not polluted with hormones, antibiotics, heavy metals and other chemicals. Not the huge amounts we use nowadays. There was a story on Dutch television, that in gallon of our processed milk there is 1 thimble of pus, from all the infections cows have in their nipples? Scientific research has proven that certain forms of cancer, like breast cancer, are found much more often among people that use a lot of dairy. It you are interested in this subject, you can find more information at: www.pcrm.org/health/Info_on_Veg_Diets/dairy.html. Organic food is always better than non-organic, since it contains more minerals and vitamins and less chemicals.

Its good to have all different tastes in your diet on a regular basis. These different tastes are: sweet, sour, pungent, bitter and salt. The main part of your food should be naturally sweet, which means sweet like carrots, squash or well cooked rice, not the pungent sweetness of sugar.

Try to have all colors on your plate regularly. It not only looks nice, in this way you will get all the necessary anti-oxidants automatically. Anti-oxidants are comparable to the pigments in your food.
